Farber Foundry Presents
MoLoRa

$45 (all tickets)

At once intimate and epic, MoLoRa explores the extraordinary events surrounding apartheid and its South African legacy through a reworking of the Greek classic, The Oresteia. Building upon the energy and pathos that moved audiences to passion and tears in last year's Farber Foundry production of Amajuba: Like Doves We Rise!, acclaimed director Yael Farber sets her new play in one of the South African halls where individuals affected by South Africa's former system of repression gathered to testify before the "Truth and Reconciliation Commission."

In a dramatic confrontation, mother and daughter, perpetrator and victim, face one another in an attempt to come to terms with their violent past. Like South Africa itself, we hold our collective breath and watch the drama unfold, enhanced through the chanting of the Ngqoko Cultural Group, a traditional chorus of rural singers of the Xhosa tribe trained in the art of "split tone" singing.
